THE FOLLOWING IS A CHAMPAIGN COUNTY MASTER GARDENERS WEEK
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Champaign County Master Gardeners are thrilled to announce their annual Garden Walk, a beloved community tradition showcasing the beauty of local landscapes. The Garden Walk is a self-guided tour through the stunning private gardens of five Champaign County homeowners and two public gardens. The event, titled Garden Gatherings, is set for June 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and tickets are on sale now.
Explore diverse landscapes, from vibrant pollinator pockets to bountiful vegetable patches and tranquil zen-like spaces. Master Gardeners will be on hand at each location to answer your questions, share their expertise, and offer insights into creating your own flourishing garden.
“This year’s Garden Walk promises an exceptional display of creativity,” says Master Gardener and Garden Walk event organizer Mary Knight. “We’ve included a truly diverse selection of gardens on this year’s tour, from enchanting English gardens and lush Hosta groves to displays of tropical orchids, there’s something to inspire every visitor.”
Proceeds from ticket sales support the Champaign County Master Gardeners’ numerous community projects. These initiatives include educational gardens at the Champaign County Crisis Nursery, the Idea Garden, and Ying Ying’s Garden.
“Garden Walk is more than just a tour of splendid gardens; it’s a unique opportunity for garden enthusiasts to give back to their community,” added Ginger Boas, University of Illinois Extension County Director. “The funds raised from this event go towards supporting a wide range of educational programs, scholarships, and new horticulture initiatives for individuals of all ages and skill levels.”
Tickets are $10 and free for children ten and under.
