PSAs – Upcoming events at Danville Public Library – May 19 – May 25, 2024
Rubber Ducky Readers: Beanstack Challenge started March 1! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6.
May 20: Teen Movie Mondays. Every Monday we will show a movie in Teen Zone and have popcorn! Teens can suggest and vote on which movie we watch. 4 pm – 6 pm.
May 20: Children’s Wonder Garden Club. Gardening event for children and families. 4:30 pm in the 1st Floor Meeting Room. This program is made possible through a partnership with the University of Illinois Extension Office. This month, we will be making a hummingbird suncatcher and repot flowers that will attract hummingbirds.
May 21: Teen Tabletop Tuesdays. Stop by the Teen Zone on Tuesdays to play board/card games and eat snacks! Tuesdays from 4 pm – 6 pm in the Teen Zone.
May 21: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: Board Game Night. Play your favorite game with your friends. 4:30 pm in the Children’s Room. Ages 8-12.
May 21: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under—Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
May 21: Monthly Teen Party: Come hang out for our teen monthly party! Have some snacks and play games! 4:00 pm in the Teen Zone.
May 21: Vermilion County Master Gardeners. Join Vermilion County Master Gardeners for a seminar at Danville Public Library at 6 pm in the 1st Floor Meeting Room. Call 217-442-8615 for more information.
May 22: Rainbow Playgroup. Socialization, play, and STEAM activities for toddlers. 10 am- 11 am. 1st Floor Meeting Room.
May 22: Dungeons & Dragons. A tabletop role-playing game that allows teens to quest for treasures and fame, or at the very least hunt enemies. This program is for teens, both those new to the game and those who already know the best way to cleave an orc. New players are always welcome! Wednesdays at 4 pm in the Teen Zone.
May 22: Team STEAM. Activities designed to help students foster creativity and boost critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Wednesdays from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
May 22: Wordy Wednesdays. Puzzle lovers, mark your calendars! Every Wednesday, head on up to the 2nd-floor Reference Desk for a variety of word puzzles. Available anytime during our regular business hours.
May 23: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 4:00 pm in the Teen Zone.
May 23: Family Bilingual Storytime. Join us for stories, songs, and rhymes in Spanish and English—Thursdays from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm in the Children’s Department.
May 25: Hear It, See It, Make It, Take It: Sensory Story Time. Sensory programs are designed for youth of various ability levels including differently-abled youth—Saturdays at 11 am in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified.
