THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On July 23, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a victim came into the lobby of the Public Safety Building stating that they were just robbed at gunpoint in the 600 block of W. English Street. Members of the Danville Police Department Street Crimes Unit spoke with the victim and immediately launched an investigation.
The suspect was positively identified as a 16-year-old juvenile. No other identifying information about the suspect will be released.
At approximately 6:52 p.m., an officer with the patrol division located the juvenile suspect near the intersection of Griffin Street and Mabin Street. The officer got out with the juvenile and placed them into custody. A firearm was recovered on the juvenile’s person.
The juvenile was transported to the Vermilion County Jail and booked on armed robbery charges.
All suspects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
