THE FOLLOWING IS A CUSTARD CUP RELEASE
[Danville, Illinois] –The Custard Cup in Danville will open for its 75th season on Friday, May 24, 2024, with a mix of familiar and new faces among the management team. Joining new owner Andrew Seibert will be Addison Smart as general manager and Joey Sermersheim as assistant manager. Smart is the son of former co-owner, Rodney Smart.
“I’ve known Addison since I worked at The Custard Cup twenty-five years ago. He was a natural choice to help lead our team,” Seibert said. “He brings his history of literally growing up in the business, experience working at other quick service establishments, and a fresh energy as we look to grow in new and exciting ways.”
As the season opens, customers will find all their favorite treats on the menu, along with one new addition that the entire staff is excited about. “I bought The Custard Cup for two reasons: to preserve Danville’s 75-year-old tradition and to give back to the community,” Seibert said. “Scoops of Love is a way to engage our customers in joining us to fulfill that mission to give back. And it starts on Day 1.”

Customers will be asked at the end of their order if they’d like to “add a scoop of love” to donate a dollar for that month’s designated partner non-profit. “Our goal will be for every customer to add a ‘scoop’ once a month,” said Smart. At the end of the month, the customers’ donations will be given to the non-profit and The Custard Cup will match the gift, up to $1,000.
Seibert, who is the Associate Director of Operations at Connections for the Homeless in Evanston and has worked his whole career in the non-profit sector, as well as having previously played a lead role in fundraising for the Danville High School Choral Music Boosters for nearly 20 years, fully understands the importance of supporting local organizations. “We’ve selected not only a diverse range of non-profits to partner with, but these are causes near and dear to our hearts and who are doing impactful work in Danville and Vermilion County,” Seibert added. “We believe our ‘scoops’ can help provide more safe shelter for our neighbors, more hope for vulnerable children, and overall, more good in our community.”
The partner non-profits for the upcoming season will include Danville Youth Hockey, CASA of Vermilion County, The Dwelling Place, Humane Society of Danville, and Crosspoint Human Services.
The Custard Cup will be open Sunday – Thursday, 12p – 9p, and Friday and Saturday, 12p – 10p.
