The Danville District 118 School Board has approved a $76,100 expenditure for a pilot science program for fifth through eighth graders. This will include students at North Ridge Middle School, South View Upper Elementary School, Kenneth D. Bailey Academy, and Northeast Magnet School. District Director of Curriculum MaryEllen Bunton says the program is called “Amplify Science,” and allows students to be presented with something, and then explore solutions.

AUDIO: Instead of having all the problems solved, we want the students to kind of start with a problem, and look at “how does that problem get solved?” These materials really help the students kind of focus in, and do those things for them. I sparks their curiosity, and it gives them a strong academic foundation.
District 118 will begin using the pilot program this fall.
