THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY CORONER’S OFFICE RELEASE
Danville, IL- The Vermilion County Coroner, Jane McFadden stated that an early morning vehicle traffic crash on Sunday morning, July 21st, 2024, at approximately 03:43 a.m. in the unit block of North Gilbert Street in Danville involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian claimed the life of James W. Ritter, a 82 year-old Danville, Illinois man. An Autopsy was performed yesterday.
The Illinois State Police and the Vermilion County Coroner’s office continue to investigate. Mr. Ritter was a U.S. Army Veteran and attempts to locate living relatives have been exhausted. The Coroner is asking that anyone with information as to the identity of any next of kin of James Ritter to please contact the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office at 217-554-6030.
