DANVILLE — City officials said when it was discovered Taylor Construction and Design of Urbana wouldn’t be able to finish construction on four new homes the developer started last year, they needed someone to finish them.
“As most of you have probably seen four houses have begun construction and most of them are encapsulated,” said Danville Community Development Administrator Logan Cronk.
“We got wind that Taylor Construction was not going to be able to complete these homes,” Cronk said. “So, what do we do? We kick it into high gear and figure out how to get them finished.”
Cronk said they located and were approached by Reffett Properties of Alvin to acquire and complete the houses at Oak, Seminary and Franklin streets.
Ward 5 Alderman Mike Puhr said he’s glad they were able to find someone else to finish the project.
“Consider us lucky,” Cronk said.
The Danville City Council Public Works Committee Tuesday night recommended a new development agreement for Reffett Properties to own the properties and finish the homes. The full city council will act on the agreement next week.
