DANVILLE — It was more than 55 years ago when 76-year-old Jim Moulton of Danville was drafted into the army.
Understandably, he wasn’t crazy about going.
He served during the Vietnam War-era from May 12, 1970, to Dec. 16, 1971, and returned to the U.S. without any hoopla.
When he returns from his Honor Flight next month, he and the other veterans will receive the heartfelt welcome home deserving to them.
Moulton said he learned about the Honor Flights when his daughter-in-law traveled to Washington, D.C., with her father. He couldn’t say no when the opportunity came up for him.
Now he and his son, Bryan, will be making the trip with 95 area veterans on May 5.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Moulton said. “It will be a busy day.”
He’s been to Washington, D.C., for a couple of work trips. He’s now retired from being a floor installer.
