THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
The Danville Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred during a domestic-related dispute.
On May 18, 2026, at approximately 8:13 a.m., Danville Police officers were dispatched to 1314 May Street for a 9-1-1 open line call with a loud disturbance heard in the background. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.
During the investigation, officers determined the incident stemmed from a household dispute. As a result of the investigation, 18-year-old Damien X. Gore was arrested and booked on charges of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and is currently listed in stable condition.
Officers recovered a firearm at the scene, and there is no further threat to the public at this time.
