Significant work is taking place along Park Haven Blvd in Denvale West. Right now, especially cautious driving is needed; as the median that used to be lined with Ash trees is now mostly a rather deep passageway between the lanes that go in opposite directions. But when it’s all done, as Police Chief Christopher Yates mentioned after Tuesday (May 19th) evening’s Danville City Council meeting, it will be a wider road, along with walking lanes on both sides that will also be good for joggers, bicyclists, and those with strollers.
AUDIO: I think everybody’s very patient about it, and I know that the city’s been working on it for the last three or four years, trying to find funding to be able to do it. I was just really happy to see it going, because it is a public safety issue; with people walking on Park Haven and there’s no sidewalks.
Danville Director of Public Works Dave Ruwe says all is going as planned.
AUDIO: And what we’re doing there has been a median along Park Haven, that at one time had trees going down the middle of the road. We are kind of ripping that median out and just finishing out the road; so it’ll just be one wide road, when we’re done.
Chief Yates mentioned that many of the trees were hurt by the Emerald Ash Borer problem.
