DANVILLE — With Danville Area Community College’s adult education program under investigation amid allegations of misappropriation of funds, campus leadership has arranged for the financial books to get a closer look.
The DACC Board of Trustees on Thursday night approved having the Peoria branch of accounting firm CliftonLarsonAllen assess the college’s “financial activities, internal controls and related processes in order to identify potential irregularities, evaluate compliance and deliver clear, evidence-based findings and actionable recommendations.”
DACC is currently being monitored by the Illinois Community College Board as part of an ongoing investigation surrounding the college’s grant-funded programs.
With that in mind, President Randy Fletcher said, it’s “prudent” to perform a forensic audit for a deeper financial picture dive.
The audit will cost an estimated $80,000, which doesn’t include travel, technology and client support fee expenses.
The board didn’t seek bids for the work, with Fletcher saying expediency was needed.
