THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
Through proactive policing, community calls for service, and investigative efforts, Danville Police Department officers continue to address illegal firearm possession and firearm-related offenses throughout our community.
Here’s a look at four incidents from the past month that resulted in firearm-related arrests.
· On 08/03/26 at approximately 12:17 am, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle at the intersection of Williams and Sherman. The driver of the vehicle, 41-year-old Daniel Waterman of Danville, was arrested for driving on a revoked driver’s license. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to Waterman being booked for methamphetamine delivery, methamphetamine possession, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
· On 08/12/26 at approximately 1:15 am, officers got out with a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot in the 1500 block of Valleyview Drive. Throughout the investigation, officers arrested a 31-year-old Dillon Cagle of Decatur who was wanted on an outstanding warrant from the Illinois Department of Corrections. The individual was also charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon & aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
· On 08/21/26 at approximately 3:29 pm, Danville Police Officers received a call advising a subject was walking around Franklin & Fairchild and was observed to be in possession of a handgun. A short while later, officers observed a group of subjects walking around Center and Oak with one matching the description from the previous call. An officer observed one of the subjects to appear to be concealing a handgun on his person. The individual was detained and a 15-year-old juvenile was arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and obstructing/resisting a peace officer.
· On 08/22/26 at approximately 1005 hours, an officer with the Danville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 400 block of Elm Street for expired registration. During the stop, a large amount of suspected methamphetamine and a firearm were located. Officers arrested Myron Wright, 43, and Jeffrey Bodine, 47, both of Danville on several drug and firearm related offenses, including possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
