CIMG had a chance to chat with Danville Police Chief Christopher Yates after Tuesday (Sept 1) evening’s Danville City Council meeting. In regard to the item on the Police Department’s Facebook page about solicitors within the City of Danville needing a license on September 1st; the chief says that was a simple reminder. Chief Yates says at one point in August there were no issued licenses active for September 1st and beyond, so it was just a good idea to remind everyone that they’re needed.
AUDIO: The was just a PSA letting everybody know that there had not been, at that time, anybody remaining that had a vendor’s permit. However, since we put that out, there has been another party that put in for a permit. So that was just forwarding an e-mail, sent out to all people.
Meanwhile, the Danville Police Department’s “Junior Citizens Police Academy” is coming up. So for any Danville junior high or high school age youngsters interested in learning about police work, this is your chance, so please get your name in as soon as possible.
AUDIO: Definitely send in your application as soon as you can, because it probably will be another full class. It starts on October 1st and it goes through November 19th. If any of our teens, 7th through 12th grade, are interested in doing that, and learning about the Police Department; they can do that by getting on our Facebook page, and it explains how you can register.
Once again, those Junior Citizens Police Academy dates are October 1st through November 19th.
