The grand opening of the Danville Aquatic Center at Garfield Park will be held on Saturday, June 15th, at 10:00 AM. Knowing the excitement and anticipation that is present for so many friends and families, we do not want to deprive our community of making lasting memories any longer!
We’re thrilled to announce that the inside of the Aquatic Center is now fully equipped with everything you need, including bathrooms, showers, lockers, three water slides, two dive boards, and the main pool that is over 10,000 sq. feet!
From the outside, you will see that the construction of the Garfield Park Project is not finished and will not be fully finished until next year. Some projects still in development include a recreational football area, a brand-new playground, and additional parking space. Dines Machine Shop will also be relocating.
Within the next year, you will continue to see improvements to the 20-acre complex that we know as Garfield Park! As you visit the Aquatic Center, take a look around and imagine what this park will become in the coming year. The City of Danville does ask for patience as we continue to make this area a vibrant space to work, play, volunteer, and raise a family.
Get ready for the grand opening of the revamped Aquatic Center on June 15th! Parking is available on the north side of the park and on Griffin St. by the Boys and Girls Club. You can also park along the south side of the Garfield Park playground and concession stand. It’s going to be a splash-tastic event!
