Danville District 118’s Superintendent Dr. Alicia Geddis has announced that a “Plan B” may be needed this coming fall semester involving students at Kenneth D. Bailey Academy. During the July 3rd District 118 Board meeting, Dr. Geddis announced that the company currently placing the new doors and glass at Bailey Academy is currently on strike. She says that if the strike continues, students may not be able to use the building at the start of the new school year.

Dr. Geddis says the district will apply to the Vermilion County Regional Office of Education for an emergency use permit for the district to use the old Carle building at 2300 North Vermilion ahead of schedule. The district recently entered into a least agreement; with plans for alternative classes, pre-K classes, and an eventual daycare for District 118 employees. Dr. Geddis says the exact plans for this emergency usage would still have to be worked out.
The original plan for this fall was to start using the Carle building for two morning and two afternoon pre-K classes. Dr. Geddis says it is not known at this time if that plan will need to be changed; and that it certainly depends on the length of the strike, and if Kenneth D. Bailey Academy students will have to be moved.
