Sunday afternoon (July 14th) at Temple Plaza in Downtown Danville, city officials were busy serving food to residents for the annual Mary Thompson Community Day. One of the servers was Vice-Mayor Tricia Teague.

AUDIO: It’s great out here today. It’s a little bit warm, but there’s a number of people out here, and we have the opportunity to serve our community. So it’s a great day.
Danville’s Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr said that yes, it was pretty warm outside. But thanks to some rain earlier in the day and a bit of a breeze, things were a bit more tolerable.

AUDIO: I think it’s a perfect temperature right now with this good breeze coming through. Folks are just out here eating and having a good time. We’re going to listen to some good music. There are games and ice cream for the kids.
Danville’s Community Day is now named after Mary Thompson, who is retiring after years to service to the MLK Celebration Committee.
