THE FOLLOWING IS A NEWS-GAZETTE STORY
HOOPESTON — Hoopeston police arrested two men on Thursday for allegedly possessing methamphetamine.
The Hoopeston Police Department arrested Anthony J. Chandler, 42, near West Maple Street and South First Avenue around 1 a.m. after identifying he had an active warrant from Vermilion County for failure to appear in court for allegedly possessing methamphetamine.
Chandler was transferred to the Danville Public Safety Building to await arraignment.
Hoopeston police then arrested Robert Phillips, 48, near 800 block of East Main Street around 9:54 a.m. after identifying he had an active warrant from Douglas County for allegedly violating conditions of the Sex Offender Act.
Phillips was also allegedly in possession of methamphetamine and was transferred to the Danville Public Safety Building to await arraignment and extradition to Douglas County.
