THE FOLLOWING IS AN AMBUCS RELEASE
Donna Jean Carlton-Vish, a 29-year member of Danville Illinois AMBUCS club, was installed as National AMBUCS President on Saturday August 3, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the National AMBUCS conference. The position is a three-year commitment, the first being President-Elect, now President, and then a year as immediate Past President. Requirements are attendance at many meetings at
AMBUCS National office in High Point, North Carolina, visiting many chapters and chapter events across the country, and being available for support via text, email, or phone.
Since joining Danville Illinois AMBUCS, Donna has held most all local board offices as well as District Governor, Central Region Director and most recently she held the position of Southern Region Director. Donna was elected National Big Hat President (the arm of the organization that concentrates on bringing in new members and raising funds) in 2013, served on the National Ambility Advisory Board from 2017- 2019 and started six new chapters throughout her travels within the United States.
Because of her dedication to our AmTryke program (specially built therapeutic tricycles for persons with special needs provided free of charge as assessed and recommended by certified therapists), she and another member pulled a large trailer full of many models of AmTrykes around to different areas to display their benefits. Donna also was critical in getting AmTrykes into our local schools, including Mark Denman, VASE, South View, North Ridge, and Danville High School.
During school, children in Special Education PE classes can ride the AmTrykes during their class-time. Donna’s platform for her year as president has several themes, including “Get Back To Basics”, Teamwork utilizing committees, Continual training to keep up with technology and AMBUCS’ mission, and providing more transparency within the organization.
You may also know Donna from seeing her in the sky flying her hot-air balloon, Sunny-Side Up. She is also a partner in the local family farming and commercial building businesses Quad D Enterprises and Heritage Development.
