Description of Incident:
The Danville Fire Department was called to Grace Street at 10:16 PM on Friday, August 16, 2024. First arriving firefighters reported heavy fire coming from the residence. Firefighters directed the first hose stream to protect an exposure on a residence just south of the building that was on fire. Once the exposure was protected, they began extinguishing the fire.
Members of the Danville Police Department informed the fire department incident commander that neighbors stated that an individual had been periodically staying in the residence, which was not in normal use. The Fire Department searched the residence once conditions inside permitted firefighters to do so. No one was found inside the building.
The fire is considered incendiary. The Danville Fire Department is being assisted by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshals Office. Anyone with information about this incident should call the Danville Fire Department at (217) 431-2350.
