Westville School District hosted its 30th Annual Senior Citizens dinner at Westville High School on Tuesday December 10th. Over 250 people from Westville and surrounding communities enjoyed a turkey meal along with Christmas music, handmade crafts, and gifts. The event is a true districtwide collaboration as students from elementary grades make ornaments and placemats for each visitor and student council members from the junior high and high school serve each guest.
The event was started in 1995 by Westville administrator Denny Watson as a way for the students and schools to give back to the community. School board members, local legislators, and administrators help serve food while students provide table service, music, games, and gift giveaways. It is always well received by visitors who appreciate the chance to visit with alumni and old high school rivals, catch up with former teachers and coaches, and receive recognition and respect from the current generation of Westville students.
