DANVILLE — Another step for Long John Silver’s move to a new building likely to be constructed this year along South Gilbert Street is coming before the Danville Area Planning and Zoning Commission on Thursday.
The city of Danville is requesting 109 Jefferson St. be rezoned from R2-single Family Residential — Medium Density to B2-Highway Business zoning to allow for the restaurant to operate at that location.
Logan Cronk, community development administrator with the city, said there is still a residential lot to be rezoned for the restaurant’s move to a double lot south of where it now sits at 306 S. Gilbert St. Jefferson Street runs parallel to South Gilbert Street.
Cronk said the restaurant is in the design phase now, with more planning documents in the works. He sees construction likely starting in the next year. The restaurant will be bigger, on a larger site, with a larger drive-thru, he said.
In other business, the city is requesting a zoning text amendment to the city’s zoning code (Accessory Buildings, Structures, and Uses) to update definition and regulation of Commercial Vehicles, Portable Temporary Storage Containers and Dog Breeder/Kennel Operator and to update definitions of Commercial Vehicles and Dog Breeder/Kennel Operator.
