*Prom Collection Drive: We need YOUR help! We’re accepting Menswear, Dresses, Shoes, Purses, and Jewelry now through March 27. Your generous donations will help make prom dreams come true for students in our community. March 28, donated items will be available free-of-charge for students at our Free Prom Shopping Event!
Read Across America: Beanstack Challenge! This March, log your reading minutes and journey through stories from coast to coast. Rubber Ducky Readers: Join this fun Beanstack Challenge! For every 10 books read, the child will get a rubber duck, every 100 books equal a book, a sticker and a certificate, 1000 books equal a goody bag filled with a book, a sticker, a completion certificate, a stuffed animal, a blow-up rubber duck, etc. This challenge is for ages 0-6. 2026 Hoopla Reading Challenge: Join Hoopla’s year-long challenge! Each month, explore a new curated collection of books, audiobooks, and comics on Hoopla, then pick one (or more!) to enjoy. March 9: Genealogy Workshop. Join us every 2nd Monday for our Genealogy Workshop Series, co-hosted by the Danville Public Library Archives and the Illiana Genealogical & Historical Society. This month: Effective Researching with Jacqueline Woodard-Smith. 1:00 – 2:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
March 9: March Madness – Book Bracket! Every Monday in March, swing by our Facebook Page or stop into the Library to cast your vote as we pit 8 popular books head‑to‑head! Which title will rise to the top? You decide! Bonus: In celebration of Women’s History Month, every featured book is written by a female author. Come join the fun and help crown our 2026 Book Bracket Champion!
March 10: Teen Crafternoons. Tuesdays = your creative time. Hang out and make cool stuff. No sign-up, no stress. Just show up and create something awesome! This week: Watercolors– let your creativity flow with dreamy watercolor designs. 3:30 – 4:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Teen Space. Ages 13 – 19.
March 10: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. This week: Break a record.Choose a Guinness World Record and try to break it. 5:00 PM in the Program Room. Ages 8-12.
March 10: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Join us for action rhymes, stories, and songs for children ages 5 and under – Tuesdays at 10:00 AM in the Program Room.
March 11: Celebrate! Join the Children’s Department each month to learn about and celebrate different cultures with stories and food. This month we will celebrate Irish Culture – Listen to stories, taste some traditional Irish foods, shamrock cookies, and take home an Irish themed slap bracelet, stickers, and a shiny green necklace! 5pm-6pm in the Program Room.
March 11: Teen Writing Club. Come write, chill, and connect. No pressure – just good vibes, cool ideas, and a space to be creative. Journals and pens will be provided for our teen writers, along with writing prompts and snacks to fuel your mind. Every Wednesday, 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm in the 2nd Floor Teen Space.
March 11: Ukulele Music Club. Join the Ukulele Music Club every 2nd Wednesday for beginner basics at 5 PM and a group jam session at 6 PM – both welcoming all skill levels! Bring your own uke or borrow one of our limited extras and enjoy making music together. The club may even perform around the community! March 12: ESL Family Group. Join our family-focused support group for those learning English as a second language. Connect with other families, share experiences, and grow your confidence in a safe, friendly space. A partnership with DACC. March 14: Filmmaking with Demetrius Witherspoon. Award-winning filmmaker and DV Entertainment Pictures owner Demetrius Witherspoon returns to Danville to share his industry insight and the power of community in reaching your goals. Learn practical techniques for low‑budget filmmaking from the creator of the Submerge Universe series, with experience directing actors from The Walking Dead, Star Wars, and Marvel. 1:30 – 3:30 PM in the Howard Rutan Meeting Room.
March 14: Story Time. Have a great time listening, interacting to stories and making a fun craft! Saturdays at 11:00 AM in the Children’s Department.
Adult/Teen Craft: Stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor for a take & make craft! Starting March 2, grab a Tiny Canvas Kit!While supplies last.
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture and win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified.
