After a dark, cloudy week the sun poked through for just a while Friday afternoon, and that turned out to be a great sign for the City of Danville’s annual March FIRST FRIDAYS event, DANVILLE’S GOT TALENT.
As a long line waited outside for the Fischer Theatre doors to open, CIMG had a chance to speak with anxious members of the audience; starting with Jerimiah from Georgetown.
AUDIO: Comments from Danville’s Got Talent fans outside Fischer Theatre.

Inside the Fischer Theatre lobby greeting people was Danville Community Relations Administrator Rheanna Pierce. She credited Community Relations Coordinator Lindsey Franz with helping her locate the idea for this year’s format change.
AUDIO: The Voice!! To be honest, Lindsey and I were talking about “how do you make the fifth year fresh and new and fun?” And we were like, we should do it The Voice style; and have duos compete, and see if they can beat out some of our previous winners.

And over behind the concessions counter, Fischer Executive Director Ashton Greer. Yes, she’s the former Community Relations Administrator that got the First Fridays events going. And now, she was watching her favorite First Fridays event from a different perspective.
AUDIO: It was an awesome time with the city. I loved my time there. I’m super proud of it. But I really feel like I’m in alignment, doing what I’m doing now.
Winners included Nico Davis taking “1st overall” and “People’s Choice” with his vocals and guitar playing, Gavin Baugh taking “2nd overall” with his singing voice, and Alexis Johnson taking “3rd overall” with her singing voice.
