THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
Danville, IL – On May 2, 2026, at approximately 5:03 p.m., officers with the Danville Police Department responded to the Save-A-Lot parking lot located at 2 E. Main Street for a report of a physical altercation involving gunfire.
Upon arrival, officers located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Both subjects were transported for medical treatment, where one individual was later pronounced deceased. The second individual’s condition is not being released at this time.
One subject is currently in custody pending the filing of formal charges. At this time, there is no ongoing threat to public safety related to this incident.
The identities of those involved are being withheld pending the filing of formal charges and proper notification of next of kin.
This incident remains under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
