DANVILLE — As the city continues to deal with storm damage from earlier in the month at Lincoln Park, city hall and elsewhere, city officials also are urging residents to be cautious during another change in weather — this week’s heat advisory that runs to Friday.
Cooling centers include: The Dwelling Place on Mondays at Danville’s First Presbyterian Church, Danville Public Library, Danville Family YMCA, Danville Men’s Rescue, Danville Rehabilitation Services Office on Franklin Street and area city and village halls can be open during operating hours.
Danville Men’s Rescue is seeking water and snack donations as it anticipates increased demand during the heat. Donations can be made in its alley at 213 N. Bowman Ave.
Due to excessive heat and the lack of air conditioning at the Joseph G. Cannon Building, the county’s administration building, building hours are adjusted to 8 a.m. to 10 am. Tuesday through Thursday and it’s closed on Friday due to the Fourth of July holiday.
Storm damage also continues to affect some areas in the city.
Lincoln Park remains closed, possibly another week or so.
