A unanimous vote by the Danville Planning and Zoning Commission has sent the proposal from Brookfield, IL’s Parkway Dispensary, LLC for another adult use Cannabis Dispensary on to the Danville City Council. It should be on the agenda for the Tuesday, January 17th meeting. This project would include the extending of Lynch Drive; which runs parallel to Lynch Road but ends at Sunnyside, the currently operating cannabis dispensary. The road would be extended north, and Parkway’s facility would be two parcels over.
Parkway Dispensary CEO Ambrose Jackson says their company is in its infancy, but would very much like Danville to be part of their operation.
AUDIO: There’s a number of ways that you can implement a dispensary from a business model standpoint. Our approach is to really focus on the consumer experience. We are a start up cannabis company; but also seen as one of the leading minority owned cannabis companies in Illinois. Our parent company is called “The 1937 Group;” and we are in the process of building out two craft grow operations in Illinois, as well as a few retail dispensaries around the Chicagoland area and in the Danville community.
The Planning and Zoning Commission confirmed that Parkway’s plans fit all current models for the Lynch Road corridor, and Community Development Administrator Logan Cronk says the city is thrilled to finally see substantial active interest all along Lynch Road.
AUDIO: The city staff for the last couple of years, and even before we were hired here at the city, have been looking for ways to bring new construction to Lynch Road. It’s been decades since it’s been done. And to see these three projects all come in the same year; we’re ecstatic. We’ve been pushing for it, and praying for it at the same time. It’s finally nice to see some interest out there.
The three Lynch Road projects Cronk was referring to are the new FedEx facility south of I-74, the Golden Nugget Casino scheduled to open this spring, and Parkway Dispensary’s plan. A fourth project would be the Seven Point of Illinois Dispensary, which is approved but has yet to break ground.
