Former Danville Mayor Bob Jones was honored at the building that bears his name tonight…the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building.
The occasion was an early birthday reception for Jones, who was Danville’s mayor from 1987 until 2003. He was asked what made him most proud during those years….

A team with existing folks that worked for the city and made it work. I think those were some trying times but we got through them good with everyone cooperating and working together.”}
The former Danville mayor was also instrumental in getting a dyslexia center opened at the Masonic Temple…

There was a lot of economic development that took place in Danville during Jones three terms as mayor, but he says others deserve a lot of the credit….

The reception honoring Jones took place prior to the regular city council meeting. He was also honored during that meeting.
