ABOVE: The Vermilion Advantage office is accepting donations for the Resource Round Up through Friday, December 1st.
The Danville and Vermilion County area Resource Round Up effort is continuing to take collections all this week; through Friday, December 1st. You can drop off items at the Vermilion Advantage office; 15 North Walnut in Danville; in the back of the municipal building. They’re looking for soap, shampoo, conditioner, razors, warm clothing and blankets, and more; to all be distributed to local agencies helping those with homeless and addiction issues. Numerous organizations are involved, and as Vermilion Advantage’s Nicole Van Hyfte explains, other organizations will receive the items for distribution.
AUDIO: We decided to create these resource bags to hand out throughout the community. So the police officers can have them; all of the different resource places can have them; the health department, the hospital. We are collecting 500 items each of different things. You can find the list at vermilionadvantage.com.

The STEP Recovery Center at 2500 Georgetown Road in Danville will be one of many organizations that those who receive the Resource Round Up bags will find information about.
Also in these resource bags will be information on where to go for help. Numbers and locations for places like Rosecrance, New Directions, or Wendy Lambert and her staff at the STEP Recovery Center.
AUDIO: And these resource bags are going to be not only for people that are homeless, but also for EMTs. There will be two separate kinds of bags. But they’ll have resources in them for people to be able to get the help that they need.
After donations are completed this coming Friday (Dec 1st), a team will be assembling at Second Church of Christ; 1 PM Wednesday, December 6th; to fill the resource bags.
Vermilion Advantage is open 8 AM to 12 Noon, and 1 PM to 4:30 PM.
