Tuesday, February 20th is the last day for Vermilion County residents to register to vote or file name or address changes prior to the March 19th Primary Election under traditional Illinois voter registration rules. Grace Period registration and voting will be conducted in person at the Vermilion County Clerk’s office from February 21st through March 19th. Grace Period registration requires two forms of identification, and at least one of them must show the applicant’s current address.
Illinois law provides for early voting and ‘vote by mail’ for all registered voters, without the need to specify a reason for doing so. Those who wish to vote by mail may request an application from the County Clerk’s office as soon as possible. A paperless online application for an early ballot is also available on the County Clerk’s website. The last day in which a ballot may be mailed to a voter is Thursday, March 14th. In-person early voting will be available at the Vermilion County Voting Center beginning Thursday, February 8th and running through March 18th. The Voting Center is located in the County Clerk’s Office inside the Cannon Office Building at 201 North Vermilion Street in Danville.
County Clerk Cathy Jenkins adds voting aids and assistance in marking the ballot are provided in all Vermilion County polling locations. In addition, special voting equipment designated to meet the needs of physically challenged voters is also available in all polling places.
