In the Danville City Council Chambers on Monday (May 13th) morning, four Danville firefighters were officially promoted to new positions: Brock Dieu to Lietenant, Neil Yelenick to Captain, Chad Busick to Captain, and William Ryan to Assistant Chief.

All spoke after taking the oath from Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr; with a lot of comments about the importance of being part of the Danville Fire Department family. Chief Aaron Marcott stated afterwards he was not surprised with what he heard.
AUDIO: I think what’s really special about this job is that you form those bonds over time. You spend so much time together, doing such dangerous things; and you have to be able to have trust within each other. That’s what makes this job I think in a sense unique to other jobs, is that you build that here. And it’s really nice to see it show throughout people’s speeches.

Danville’s Mayor Williams agreed.
AUDIO: I think what they stated are things that we knew. And that’s that these men and women take their jobs seriously. They are here for the public and they are here for each other. And they are going to keep doing whatever they can to keep all of those that I just mentioned safe.
The promotions were initiated by some departures within the Danville Fire Department; including the retirement of Assistant Fire Chief Todd Spicer, after 27 years of service.
