June is Pride Month, and last year the Vermilion County Pride Coalition decided to have a Pridefest on the first Saturday of the month. This year, they’re doing it again, with the 2nd Annual Vermilion County Pridefest happening in Downtown Danville’s Temple Plaza, starting at 1 PM this Saturday, June 1st.
Robert Sloan and Cody Morris recently joined Tommy B on D102’s The Big Show, talking about how last year more than double the crowd they expected turned out. As Morris explains, this year they’ll have more vendors, plenty of food trucks, along with a DJ and information and entertainment.
AUDIO: We have doubled the vendors. We’ve added bounce houses for the kids so; so there’ll be couple bounce houses for the kids; lots of stuff to do all day long. DLO will be performing from 3 to 4 as well.
The bounce houses, as well as the event itself, are free. And as Robert Sloan points out, plenty of resources will be on hand to talk about meeting your needs, and that’s more than just health and wellness needs.
AUDIO: There’s even the option of the religion side of things. The St. James church has been a part of it for the last couple years. So yes, we’re just happen to have everyone.
Sloan adds that Pridefest is for the entire area, and all our welcome.
AUDIO: This event is open to everyone in the community. We just want everyone to have a great day downtown; experience some fun. It’s going to be a day that you don’t want to leave.
Saturday’s Vermilion County Pridefest runs 1 to 5 PM at the Downtown Danville Temple Plaza, with an after party from 7 to 11.
