Some Veterans were called upon to turn the first shovels of dirt during a groundbreaking ceremony at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville Tuesday. They were part of a celebration kicking off construction for a new Mental Health Inpatient Building.
VA Director Shawn Bransky says the building will allow in-patient mental health treatment to move….
{‘’This will be a state-of-the-art, 22-bed in-patient mental health building that will provide a range of services for our Veterans – everything from group therapy to other treatment that helps our Veterans that are suffering from things such as PTSD, or any other mental health diagnosis that requires mental health intervention,’’ said Director Bransky.}
Director Bransky outlined the timetable for the project….
{‘’We’re hoping to have this project completed – the estimated schedule of completion will put us about two years from today. So we expect to stay on that timeline and look forward to having a group come back out and join our ribbon-cutting in two years. Opening this great facility that will provide great things for our Veterans,’’ Director Bransky said during an interview with VermilionCountyFirst.com News.
The new 22 bed Mental Health Inpatient Building is one of two major projects on the Danville VA campus currently. Director Bransky outlined the other one….
{‘’We are adding some new homes, long-term care homes for our patients. We want to continue to do that. These are two more homes and then beyond that we will add another two homes. This campus is a beautiful campus. It allows us to do many different things that a lot of facilities can’t do – such as build long-term care places to be able to provide a place for our Veterans to come,’’ said Director Bransky.}
The current building where inpatient mental health Veterans reside was built in the late 1960s. Director Bransky told the crowd at the groundbreaking Tuesday that he hopes the new building will be a beacon for those who have given so much for our country.
