We are into March, and that means the annual visit of the NJCAA Division II National Basketball Tournament is almost here. It will once again be at Danville Area Community College, this time with games Monday through Saturday, March 17th through 23rd.
Also going on at that time basketball related will be former DACC Coach John Spezia hosting individual player evaluations, which will primarily take place at the Boys & Girls Club of Danville; Friday, March 22nd and Saturday, March 23rd.
Coach Spezia says those evaluations; to be done by former College Coach and Nike Camp evaluator Craig Harbaugh, along with current North Dakota School of Science Men’s Assistant Coach Darryl Fletcher; will be accessible by Junior College, Prep School, NAIA, and NCAA schools.
Spezia says he’s already got some players coming from his current connections in the Caribbean; but it’s open to anyone who might be in the tournament that week, local and area players, or anyone who wants to make the trip. He says this is largely for players who want to advance to the next level, such as from high school or junior college.
AUDIO: Most of the time it’s just older guys; that are graduating from high school, or maybe they’re at the junior college level and need to have a four year school look from somebody. The more exposure you can get for those guys; you just never know who’s out there.
Cost to enter is $200, with a night and meal at the Red Roof available at $100 each. Those wanting to register should go to www.facebook.com/coachspeziainc; or e-mail to coachspeziainc@aol.com.
