With the warmer weather on its way, hot air balloon pilots and crew members are invited to a special safety seminar this Saturday (March 16th) at the Danville Area Community College Bremer Center. This Illinois-Indiana Safety Seminar will be co-hosted by the Balloon Association of Greater Illinois and the Montgolfier Society of Indiana.
Balloon Association of Greater Illinois member Dean Carlton says lots of events like this are usually held all over the nation during the winter months. He looks for this event to bring in ballooning crews from at least Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Kentucky, and Missouri. And with this year’s Balloon’s Over Vermilion set for July 12th and 13th, it will be here before we know it. So Carlton says it’s simply a good way to remind all participants in ballooning that this is sport that is not without challenges.
AUDIO: Seven different topics; they’re about an hour each. Everything from pilots’ decision making, to aeronautical weather, to accident reviews; flight operations; crew operations.
This Saturday’s event at the DACC Bremer Center will run from 8 AM to about 4:30 PM, with some Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken and Royal Donuts for lunch. You can register ahead of time by going to https://www.bagiballoon.org/seminar.php
