The Vermilion County Clerk’s Office voting equipment went through a scheduled test around 10 AM Tuesday (March 12th) morning outside the Clerk’s Office. Present to watch were a lot of the county’s election judges; and as Clerk’s Office Supervisor of Elections Carrie Wilson reminds us, some of their tech runners were there as well.
AUDIO: Tech runners are kind of like, the IT maybe, of the election. If there’s an issue, our runners can go out; and if the election judges are unable to solve it, then the runners trouble shoot, and they get the issues taken care of.
A representative from Liberty Systems out of Tremont, Illinois was conducting the tests. Wilson says Liberty Systems has been the Clerk’s Office vendor and equipment supplier since 2019, and they use equipment the county is now very familiar with. That, of course, helps the election judges; and Wilson says that team, so many of them returnees, will be ready to go next Tuesday the 19th for the primary election.
AUDIO: We’re looking good. We have a great team. Our election judges are ready and prepared for the election. They are seasoned, and they come back with us every year.
Polls for next Tuesday the 19th’s Primary Election will be open 6 AM to 7 PM. Grace Period Voting will be available that day at the Clerk’s Office. That’s when you need to register or perhaps change your name or address. You can do that right at the Clerk’s Office right on Election Day, and then cast your vote right there. For questions on where your polling place is, the Clerk’s Office can be reached at 217-554-7700. Remember, that number is for county voters outside the City of Danville. For City of Danville polling place questions, as well as Grace Period Voting questions, call 217-554-1930.
