Danville’s Red Mask Players are getting ready to present the Pulitzer Prize winning Neil Simon play “Lost in Yonkers.” Laura Williams was recently joined on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program by John Tilford, who plays the father; and Donna Sant, who plays the grandmother. Donna explained the plot of the show, which takes place in the early 1940s, with some agreeable assistance from John, who agreed about Donna’s character.
AUDIO: (Donna) The main focus is the two little boys, Jay and Artie, who are left with their grandma; while their father, played by John, has to travel the country to earn money to pay debts incurred by his wife’s illness. The boys will be living with Grandma Kurnitz; who is, shall we say John, not the warmest, fuzziest person? (John) Exactly.
Lost in Yonkers will be presented at the Kathryn Randolph Theater at 601 North Vermilion; April 5th through 7th, and April 12th through 14th. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 PM, Sunday shows are at 2 PM. You can go to redmaskplayers.com or call 217-442-5858 for tickets.
