Carl Alexander, Danville’s first African American Police Chief from 1999 to 2007, was honored after Friday morning services at Second Baptist Church on North Franklin Street with a noon hour police escorted procession out to Danville National Cemetery. Alexander, a Veteran, also served as Police Chief at the VA Medical Center during the 90s, as well as serving as Danville Director of Public Services (overseeing both police and fire) from 2004 to 2007.
