The Illinois House of Representatives this week passed a resolution congratulating Fowler Connell on the occasion of his 100th birthday. The resolution, sponsored by State Representative Brandun Schweizer (R-Danville) commends the longtime sportswriter/broadcaster for his service to the State of Illinois and the nation, and wishes him continued health and happiness.

AUDIO: Fowler, he’s turning 100 years old. He’s done a lot of amazing things throughout his life. He witnessed the surrendering of the Japanese, toured the aftermath of the atom bomb dropped in Nagasaki. And I just think it’s very important with all the work that he did for the Danville area, that we recognize him for a lifelong achievement, of what he has accomplished and what he has seen, and what he has done not only for this country, but the Danville area.
