Fifty years ago, in the early 70s, the Vermilion County Conservation District created their Outdoor School program for fourth and fifth grade students. And this Sunday (April 14th), 1 to 4 PM in the Environmental Education Center at Kennekuk County Park, families are invited to stop by to relive those moments learning about the biodiversity of plants and animals, as well as to create some new memories. The Conservation District’s Laura Danzl explains.
AUDIO: People can come out to the Kennekuk Environmental Education Center, anytime between 1 o’clock to 4 o’clock, to just go down memory lane. (They can) look at photos that we have, workbooks; meet with former teachers, former students.
They’re also planning a guided hike at 2 PM, along with some pond dipping activities down at the marshes. And while you’re there, ask how your 4th or 5th grader can sign up for this year’s four day Outdoor School program, held at both Kennekuk County Park and Forest Glen. They’ll talk more about the program at 1:15.
