Vermilion County has a new Recorder and a new vacancy on the county board. Chrisi Walls, a Republican from County Board District 5, stepped down from her board seat Tuesday evening before being sworn in as the new county Recorder.
Circuit Judge Thomas O’Shaughnessy administered the oath to Walls and noted it is an important office…
{AUDIO: “That office – this office Miss Walls is taking tonight – is an important office because it contains critical and vital records of this county that show the history of this county in terms of through its real estate. And I was thinking this afternoon that it’s more than just that. It’s a history of military service as well.”}
Walls replaces Dave Stone who decided not to finish his term. Mathew Long, the current Vermilion County Supervisor of Assessments, had announced plans earlier to run for the Recorder’s job.
It will be up to the Vermilion County Republican Party to recommend someone to fill the vacancy left by Wall’s departure in District 5.
