THE FOLLOWING IS A VERMILION COUNTY STATE’S ATTORNEY’S OFFICE RELEASE
On June 7, 2024, Keynte Davis (DOB: 2/17/1977) formerly of Danville, Illinois, pleaded guilty and was sentenced by Judge Derek Girton for 14 years for the crime of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class 1 felony, and for 8 years for the crime of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon on Parole, a class 2 felony. The sentences will be followed by a term of 1 year of mandatory supervised release for each count.
Judge Girton heard evidence from the State that agents of the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group conducted an investigation which led to search warrants of multiple residences connected to Keynte Davis. Davis was found to be in possession of 161.6 grams of crack cocaine, firearms, magazines and ammunition. Davis was interviewed by VMEG agents and admitted that he sold crack cocaine out of both of the separate residences that had been searched.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy thanked the agents of the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group for their continued efforts to remove illegal drugs from Vermilion County. She added, “When you are a convicted felon in Illinois, you lose the right to possess a firearm. My office will continue to work with our local police agencies to obtain strong sentences for individuals who repeatedly engage in illegal activity in order to protect our communities.”
