The governor’s proposal increases funding from $122-million dollars to $601-million dollars for the Monetary Award Program (MAP), which provides financial assistance to Illinois residents who attend approved Illinois colleges.
State Senator Jason Barickman, a Bloomington Republican, said the governor’s budget plan relies heavily on one-time federal COVID revenues. ‘’Middle-class families deserve permanent tax relief, not election year gimmicks that fail to address Illinois’ crushing property tax burden and rampant inflation,’’ added Barrickman.
