Description of Structure/Property: Detached Garage
Description of Incident:
On Monday, March 25, 2024, Danville Firefighters were called to a garage on fire in the 100 Blk of S Buchanan Street. Firefighters arrived to find a detached garage behind the home fully involved in fire. High winds fueled the fire and threatened nearby structures. A vehicle parked near the garage was also involved in the fire.
Firefighters using multiple hose lines extinguished the fire within minutes of their arrival and protected nearby structures.
Ameren assisted firefighters by removing a service line that powered the garage.
Firefighters remained on scene until 12:11 PM.
Fire Cause: The cause of the fire remains undetermined; the fire is under investigation by the Danville Fire Department.
Injuries: No injuries were reported.
Smoke Alarm Status: Smoke Detector(s): No working detectors present.
Estimated Dollar Loss: $ 15,000.00
