THE FOLLOWING RELEASE IS FROM CONGRESSWOMAN MARY MILLER’S OFFICE
Last week, I voted against reauthorizing FISA without serious reforms to protect American citizens because FISA was abused during the Obama Administration to spy on the Trump campaign and spying authority has been abused by the Biden Administration to spy on Tucker Carlson for criticizing Biden’s policies. Obama and Biden officials cannot be allowed to abuse government power to spy on their political opponents without consequences, and I do not trust the Biden officials to adhere to the reforms in this bill because they are blatantly violating our immigration and border security laws daily.
We know Biden is lying when he says he needs warrantless spying powers to protect our national security because if Biden was serious about our national security, he would secure the southern border instead of allowing 10 million unvetted foreign nationals to walk into our country, including terrorists, murderers, and drug traffickers.
Keeping the border open but demanding warrantless spying powers because terrorists are walking across is like blowing a hole in your boat and demanding a bucket to bail out water. Biden’s open border is our greatest threat, and securing the border and deporting the illegal aliens who entered is the most important step we can take to protect American citizens.
I’m thankful to recognize April as National Faith Month. My faith is at the heart of everything I do. Before any major decision and during moments of conflict, I ask for God’s guidance and wisdom to guide me in accordance with His will.
Faith was key to our nation’s founding. Our Founders never meant for faith to be separate from public life. We need faith to overcome our mountains of division so we can do what is right for our country and the American people.
I’m humbled to share my faith and recognize that this sacred right has been preserved by those who have selflessly laid down their lives for our freedom.
Last week, I introduced legislation that would require food products containing insects to be labeled front and center. Biden’s climate agenda is attacking the livestock industry – creating more regulations, which increases production costs – and is forcing Americans to drastically alter their diets to insect consumption.
Last week, Joe Biden’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms released a rule that allows the federal government to conduct unconstitutional background checks for firearm sales.
This new rule erodes the purpose of the Second Amendment and American citizens’ right to keep and bear arms. I am committed to preserve our 2nd Amendment rights and ensure that the Biden government stops violating our constitutional rights. I will co-sponsor the legislation to reverse this rule.
My district staff is hosting local office hours today! Please stop by if you need assistance getting in contact with a Federal Agency. My staff is available to help with Social Security, IRS, VA, and other federal issues.
Last week, I was honored to welcome an Illinois veterans’ Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Thank you for the sacrifices you have made to protect and preserve our nation. The greatness of our country would cease to exist if not for your bravery and courage. Thank you for your service!
