The message she hopes her fellow graduates will take away from her talk: "Everybody's had hard times, and we need to be easier on each other. We're all kind of going through life together. Everybody has different stories."

So what happens to the district's rented Carle building at 2300 North Vermilion, which held some Pre-K and Birth to 3 classes this year. The district says they are looking to rework the lease, or outright purchase it; and talks are ongoing.

To become eligible for Phi Theta Kappa membership, students must complete at least 12 cumulative college credit hours and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

The students were recognized during the annual All-Illinois Academic Team Banquet held in Springfield, Illinois, celebrating top-performing scholars from community colleges across the state.

As Student Trustee, Hamza will serve as a liaison between the student body and the Board of Trustees, providing input on student concerns, campus initiatives, and issues affecting higher education.
